We are in Tuscany,
in the hills about a half-hour away from the center of Florence.
We are near a hamlet famous for its panoramic position at
500 meters above sea level, between the Chianti region and
the Arno Valley. From the little village square you take a
dirt road bordered by cipresses with magnificent views through
the olive groves, across the valley to the mountains. After
1,5 kilometers you arrive at Poggio Pratelli.
Poggio Pratelli is a small farm which is principally dedicated
growing two crops: organic olives, which produce an excellent
extra virgin olive oil, and irises, a traditional crop of this
area, the high-quality organic iris rhizomes being used in perfumes
and cosmetics.
Part of the original farmhouse has been converted for use as
an agritourism.
